More than 350 years later, Xavier Libbrecht beat D’Artagnan’s “record” at the same distance in 11:54.
On October 3, 1987, Xavier Libbrecht, faithful to the spirit of Alexandre Dumas, republished the feat of d’Artagnan who would have traveled in 1624, to bring his ferrets to the Queen, the distance of 220 km from St-Valéry- Sur-Somme in Paris. Xavier scrupulously respected the itinerary described by the novelist by changing four times of mounts, all in less than 12 hours … It is surrounded, encouraged by a whole group of friends and experts, but also owners of horses Namely Crazy Cloud and Polycarp belonging to Raymond Johnson his coach, Ibrahim to Magali Chambaud or the famous Mao IV Gaston Mercier and equipped with the prototype saddle imagined by the latter, he could win his bet.
